Gavin Myers, contemporary choreographer and teacher, living in Kansas currently. Growing up outside of Belle Plaine, Myers began his musical and theatrical training through his family and eventually began working with Music Theatre for Young People and Music Theatre of Wichita. During that time, he learned how to play the piano, violin, and saxophone, become proficient at gymnastics, and learn archery.

At 18, he graduated from Bishop Carroll Catholic High School and participated in the 2012 National High School Music Theatre Awards (Jimmy Awards), performing on the Minskoff stage in New York. After returning to Kansas, Myers attended Wichita State University, to graduate with a BFA in Musical theatre and BFA in Dance from Wichita State University in Dec. 2016.

During his collegiate years, Myers toured with the Wichita Contemporary Dance Theatre in both of their Mexico tours as a company member, small group member, and soloist. He was able to work with Darrell Grand Moultrie, Nathan Trice, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Stephen Kopel, and Wayne Bryan on various dance to musical theatre shows.

After graduating, Myers created, choreographed, produced, and filmed his first show “Turn Off the Dark,” a contemporary dance theatre experience that explored the connection of relationships and light to an old house in Wichita. “Turn Off the Dark” is now on Youtube and can be viewed here.

Myers moved to New York and began a residency at Skeleton Rep, he choreographed “The Inconvenient Miracle: a Mysterious Birth Musical” and the fight choreography for “Wendell and Pan.” Myers has stepped away from Skeleton Rep to focus on Alabaster Fox Production’s next projects. He is also working on his third year of residency at the Repertory School of Performing Arts at Town Hall with three pieces, “Turn-Up” and two without titles yet, which were set to perform at the end of May 2020, but has been cancelled due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

“EAT ME UP,” a contemporary dance theatre show, will debut later in 2021 featuring Mangoes, Blue Carrots, The Potato Bop, Dig the Beat, and Turn-up along with more that have yet to be created. Casting will be held soon and rehearsals to follow. Auditions will be in WICHITA, KANSAS in early 2021 and video submissions are now open until March 2021. 3 eight counts of movement showing length and strength are required along with a headshot and full body shot.
